rearend width ?

Hello guys I'm new to third gen. camaros and new to this forum. I bought an 84 to do some dragracing with, i'm sure this question has been beat like a dead horse, but I wanted to know if anybody has the rearend width from backing plate to backing plate for the third gen? i know these rearends are weak, and I have several 8.2 10 bolts laying around. Any help will be appreciated Thanks. Shane

Re: rearend width ?

i'm not sure the width, but you will have a hard time using a 8.2" rear in it from another car, because of the torque arm mount on the diff. housing, moser, strange and a few others sell both bare and complete 12 bolt and ford 9" third members for our cars and that would be the best way to go in my honest opinion

Re: rearend width ?

In the General Data box

Track means the width....

IROC Camaro
Front:60.7" Rear:60.6"

MustangGT
Front:56.6" Rear:57.0"

So....60.6" is the width you were wanting.

Re: rearend width ?

Track width is measured between the tire tread centers and may not be the same as the dimension that he's looking for.
