BMR K-Member and Rack Qs
Got my Chirstmas money and now its time to blow it on the car. Im going to get a BMR K-member and A-arms. This just came to me last night..what is Rack and Pinion Steering? How good is it and is it worth geting and what all do I need to go with? BMRs page has a Flaming River for $230. Is that all I really need? The car is going to be a street/strip/show car. One more thing while on the topic of BMR..Iv got the Sub Frame ties from them that are made for full lenght headers and exhaust. Can I use the "trak Pak" torque arm with them? Iv tryed to look and read but cant find what Im looking for..might ahve to call..
Thanks Guys

keep in mind, the rack will reduce your turning radius, unless you can modify the spindles or use aftermarket ones made for rack and pinion applications. Racecraft makes them

Lookin on Hawks they show 2 manual rack and pinion sets. One is $600+ and the other is around $300. Whats the difference?

If you plan on using the manual rack kit from us you need to have the K-member with the rack mounts on it. Did you purchase this correct one?
For the most part I do not recommend using the manual rack kit on a street car application for some of the same reasons you have been given. The installation of the rack kit is also not for the average car enthusiast and will require some fab skills.

Re: BMR K-Member and Rack Qs
I havent ordred any thing yet. I was going to and Im waiting to order a bunch of stuff at once..pay shipping once... The car will see some street use but most shows and strip use. If I get the spindesl from RaceCraft..what other problems could I run into? My goal is be deep 10s on a "stock size" drag radial. I want the car to look mostly factory..

Re: BMR K-Member and Rack Qs
I used and installed the racecraft dropped spindles for R and P, racecraft k-member with pinto mounts, unisteer pinto rack, narrowed for 3rd gen camaro, PA racing pinto rack conversion steering shaft. Other than the problems with Racecraft K-Member it probably would only take a day or 2 to install.
My car is for street use, other than the steering is now arm strong instead of power, all of my muscle car were manual steering anyway, so no problem, and I have no change in steering radius with new spindles and rack
Hope that helps

Thats good info there Rat. Its good to know that those spindles are really keeping the oem turning radius when switching to a rack.
