Moser 12 bolt sway bar problem

I have a 1982 Trans Am and recently installed a Moser 12 bolt with the aluminum support cover. Now my sway bar won't fit. I tried the Spohn aftermarker sway bar relocation kit which was basically a 3" pipe clamp with the other part to clamp onto the 3" axle shafts of the rearend. Has anyone else ran into this problem and if so, what was the solution.

Thanks!

Re: Moser 12 bolt sway bar problem

Sure wish UMI made sway bars..Anyways if I read this right U are using the stock sway bar. I just installed a 1" rear spohn bar. with the aftermarket kit u refer 2.The kit drops the bar lower and provides longer end links 2 allow clearance for the after market rear support covers.Definitly get some pics up.But the problem may be the stock sway bar.Did u use the longer links?

Re: Moser 12 bolt sway bar problem

The problem is the stock sway bar is too small. It doesn't fit around the support cover. The guys at Spohn tell me they have one that'll work. I've ordered it and will update this post when I've gotten it and had time to try and install it. Meanwhile, my left rear shock has ripped out about a 3" diameter piece of sheet metal from the top of the shock tower or whatever it's called and that's going to be a **** to fix.

Re: Moser 12 bolt sway bar problem

the sway bar should have a drop in the middle to clear the rear, are you sure you dont have it on upsidedown? i've seen it done.

It's just that the support cover and the additional with of the rearend. Here's what the Spohn Performance one will look like.

Is your pinion angle correct?
