spring kit v.s. coilovers

Ok yet again the newby is striking with a vengeance on the probably over posted questions, so sorry again. I am looking at getting into road racing in the next year or so and I was wondering what would be better, a good spring kit like eibach? or would it be worth it to save up some money and go with a coilover suspension?

it depends how "into" road racing your getting. If its a weekend auto-x type deal with a pretty much stock car, a prokit would be a good start. Dont forget that you also need a very good set of shocks/struts. Koni yellows are a good choice, at about700bux, and good tires.

If you really have the need to an adjustable spring setup, Ground Control weightjacks are better for autox that coilovers. Coil-overs will limit you front tire size considerably.

This also depends on what class you plan to race in and what mods that class allows.

Ground Control over coil-overs.

Coil-overs are good for drag racing. They limit your front tire width, which you certainly don't want for a corner carving car.

you can fit a 275 on the front with coil-overs on a 9.5" wheel, but they sit a little too far out for my taste.

Hmmm...I didn't think that was possible with coil-overs. I have 275s on 9" wide, 4.5" bs right now, on a standard spring set-up.

yea, they have to have 5.5" of back spacing, and it will be close to the spring, and flush, if not just a hair outside the fender.

A guy in the local car club runs that setup, and like i said, its just a little too far out for my taste.

Thanks everyone. I think I will go with a good set of springs with some good shock and struts. Also, does it benefit to do any tubular suspension parts
