Re: umi complaints?

I have almost every part available from UMI for 3rd gens. I love them, UMI has gone out of their way to help me out on 2 occasions.

I do suggest the double adjustable panhard bar though. It's much nicer/easier to make the adjustment with it on the car.

Re: umi complaints?

I too would like the double adjustable parts but...
A) how likely is it to undo itself
B) how much louder will it be
C) how often will I really be adjusting it

Re: umi complaints?

ZERO complaints here, on any of the parts I've installed so far.

A) Nothing I have has undone itself/loosened the jam nuts
B) I've noticed no increased noise, from my rod ended parts
C) The adjustability factory isn't about having to change it often. But rather, the option to get it right.

My rearend, on my NON-lowered GTA, was off-center by almost a full inch, despite the good bushings. Now it is centered. 8)

Re: umi complaints?

ok, i was just worried about the jamb nuts loosening over time.
well then i guess i will get their SFC's, LCA'a and PHB all at once.
i think i will still get single adjustable because of the cost unless there is a great reason not to...
anyone?

i will be placing the order later tomorrow night

Re: umi complaints?

i got there single adjustable panhard bar and there LCARBS... love the products. i would get the single adjustable if you are worried about money then get the singles... they will still give u what u want. they have the one spherical rod end that helps with binding but the poly bushing will help with vibrations etc. i have yet to get any increased vibrations but sometimes it does happen.

they do not loosen over time(jam nuts) but i would like UMI to kno that my panhard bar spherical end has seemed to have locked up... cant swivel it with my hand. takes a good bit of force to swivel it at all.

That means it's time to replace that rod end. Rod ends don't last very long, one of the downsides of em. I replace mine with Johnny Joints

It's worth the extra $20 to get the double adjustable panhard bar. It really does make it so much easier to use. Like Stephen said, and we both speak from experience. It's not how often you'll be adjusting it, it's how much easier it will be to adjust and get it right.

The LCA's are fine for the single adjustment.

Rod ends don't last very long, even when lubed properly. They are designed to be replaced often.

Re: umi complaints?

Mine lasted about 2 years before I noticed noise. Now, at 3, they really need to be replaced. But that is with the pre-China QA1 rod ends Spohn uses. The ones QA1 makes now are from China, and I hear the quality blows. I do not know what ends UMI uses, but I'm sure they do haha. I plan to replace mine with either rubber ends (like the body end on my LCAs), the $40-50 per rod ends I can't remember the name of, or Johnny Joints. Probably Johnny Joints, though.

I have over 40K miles on their LCA's and panhard. No problems. Great place to deal with too.

Re: umi complaints?

I have no complaints at all, however, I too wish I would have gotten some stickers. I wouldn't put them on the actual suspension parts, but I would attach them to a magnet and put the magnets on my car whenever I race or maybe even for some local car shows. It would be a simple way for me to spread the word about their great products.

Hopefully they can send me some stickers/magnets. They would get a lot of exposure due to the 10+ autocross events I compete in every year and all the local car shows I show up to every year.

Re: umi complaints?

i cant beleive they wear out that fast... makes me think i should stick with my poly end tubular ones i made. they'll last 20+yrs.

Re: umi complaints?

They wear out faster, but at least they won't bind. Another option is the poly-ball pieces from hotpart/J&M. I would think they would out last rod ends but have similar benefits.
