Traction bars
just bought an 82 trans am ws6 the car has less than 100,000 miles on it and the stock tranny blew up the bell housing is in 15 pieces. I am putting a turbo 350 tranny back in its place but i cant get the bracket for the torque arm to bolt to the new tranny so i was wondering if i could do away with the torque arm and just put traction bars on it.

Re: Traction bars
no, you need the torque arm.
th other option would be to use the traction/lift bars that lakewood uses, but they are not the best design and are weak in places.
you need something like this

Re: Traction bars
well thats just their bracket, there are many companies that make aftermarket mounts, cross members mounts, torque arms, and the rest of the 3rd gen suspension parts.
UMI, Spohn, BMR, Racecraft, for instance.
