Re: would this brace work
its quite obvious by looking at it that it DOES NOT bolt to anything already on the car, you will have to drill 2 holes for each side. Not a big deal.
From the design, it looks like it will clear, but im not positive

Re: would this brace work
Not only are Firebird hoods lower profile, but the GTA hood also has different inner bracing, that causes problems.
I know this, because I was a test subject for the UMI Performance 2-pt STB under GTA hoods.
I initially beat one 3" long section of the bracing up, as it was holding the hood up a little over 1/8". Beating it got it so close to flush you couldn't tell, but even then, it was TOUCHING. Not really holding the hood up, but ZERO clearance. I finally just cut that section of bracing out.
The UMI one is even notched to clear the plenum, so it can sit as low as possible. The brace your showing doesn't appear to have the notch, so it would sit that much higher up to begin with.

Not like you are REMOVING the bracing completely.....Just making it shorter, in one are.

Re: would this brace work
very nice brace, but the one from Mac performance doesn't need to have any holes drilled or cut anything out ..it will bolt directly on the strut tower shock bolts....it takes about 15 minutes to bolt it on and that's taking your time!! ..it is strong and nice looking in chrome...i will get some measurements for you today...

Re: would this brace work
BTW....The UMI one I posted above is a direct bolt-on too. No need to drill any holes.
There is an additional hole per side in the mounts, which is PURELY OPTIONAL to use, to put in a 3rd bolt (which are included). I never bothered to put those in & am perfectly happy, the way it is without them.
And there ia no way the MAC one is gonna fit under a GTA hood, with its different internal bracing. It apparently has neither the notch to clear the plenum, which would set it higher & could mean it hits a GTA hood even worse.

Re: would this brace work
Does the SLP runners set the upper plenum up any higher?
I had my STB as low as possible to clear the hood bracing, but it still didn't & while it cleared the plenum, it turned out the torque of the engine was enough to make it rub some. I currently have it off & am sanding the top of the plenum down, to get rid of the gouge.
I'm gonna raise the STB up in its adjustment range, which is why I went ahead & cut the offending section of the hood bracing out.

Re: would this brace work
I believe UMI says in the description of their STB that it wont clear aftermarket runners. I may be wrong though...
