Drifting

I just bought my car and cant be more frustrated so far i found a faulty kill switch, Broken ignition, bad battery, completly torn up interior, awful paint, worst filters ever (oil filter hadnt been changed since 1994 and it was a dd), bad water pump, and the list goes on...

Well i fixed almost everything but the suspension is really old and worn out...

I need to redo it and im looking for a fun weekend ride so i want to know what it would take to turn one of these great cars of ours into something that can drift a little bit.

So i need help i want to know what i should replace my stock suspension with

I need
struts
springs
tierods
tierod ends
all of that kind of stuff...

Thanks in advance for helping out a new member to tgo

Re: Drifting

There is a front end rebuild kit on Ebay that is 250$ shipped, i purchased it...it is all mquay norris (sp) parts and comes with tierods balljoints draglink tierod sleeves bushings swaybar endlinks idler arm and a couple other things, all in all the kit appears to be great in quality and from the reviews i have personally read it performs great. And for it being a name brand, and as inexpensive as it is its simply a steal (i added it all up via advanced auto and its a little over 425$ for everything the rebuild kit comes with) and as for struts/springs i dont know i havent decided which route to go with them yet :P

Re: Drifting

the best upgrade to make you car handle better is a good set of shocks and struts. Koni and Bilstein are about the best but KYB and other name brands will do alrite. Next you would want to invest in some lowering springs from Eibach or maybe just some IROC or GTA springs, do the same with the roll bars try and ****** a pair off a GTA or IROC. If your steering feels loose then i would buy the kit mentioned above. Lastly some Polyurethane control arm bushing would really help in what you tryin to achieve, and if your trying to drift on the street then thing twice i smashed my first third gen that way.

a posi-traction rear differential would definetly help too

Where should i go about finding KONI shocks for a decent price?
Any special brand to look for on the control arm?

And im not really trying to drift on the streets i just want to get my DD to be able to drift when i have a good opertunity, haha nothing better then making little imports feel stupid when you slide a car that cost half as much the same way :P

Also snag a wonderbar ($50) and a Strut Tower Brace ($40) That will stiffen up the front along with the subframe connectors.

I would also either get a limited slip rearend or a get a mini-spool (locks both tires)... That would be the perfect start.

Re: Drifting

I'm clearing out a few sets of springs in the Classifieds that might be of use, including brand new Hypercoil 800# fronts, used Hypercoil 225# and Blue Coil 175# rears.
