inner tie rod fix

Hey guys, Today, I was coming out of the local gas station when I decided to give a kid, that i hate, with a little chevy caviler with a fart can a piece of third gen power. i took a sharp corner at like 55mph and it heard a loud bang and the front end never seamed the same since. The front end shakes very bad, especially at stops. it dosent like left turns so a guy told me to look on the right for a problem. I took a look under and found that what I think is the inner tie rod or stabilizer. i thought it was a torsion bar at first? But it has popped off on the right side. I took a couple pictures to show you guys so i can fix this problem. Thanks I want to fix it tomorrow before I go to work so I would like quick help on this one. thanks guys

-I provided a picture of the right side (the broken side) then a picture of the left (the good side) then i picture for fun.

Re: inner tie rod fix

That's not a tie rod end, it's a sway bar end link. Just get a new pair of endlinks. You can get polyurathane if you want - they usually have them on the shelf at Autozone for like $30 a pair. Should take 15 minutes to do, unless the bolt is rusted on the 'good' side, then you need a few minutes to cut it off with the hacksaw.

You really showed that kid

But easy fix. You'll need two 9/16th wrench's (or maybe 14mm)

You can get replacement end links for like 6 bux.

Also, good idea to replace both sides at the same time.

Might wanna soak some PB Blaster on them to help loosen ththe old ones off.

True, but by the sounds of it, I really didn't think he had a large collection of tools, and cutting it off was already mentioned, just giving him another option.

Car still shakes

Hey guys, I replaced the sway bar endlinks, it was pretty easy and cheap. I replaced both of them because 2 came in a kit for like 20 bucks or something. Then I took the car out for a drive and it still has that shake to it. I feel it the most when i am in idling at stop signs and red lights. Its kinda embarassing when I stop for a light and the car just shakes at like 700 rpm. It is definatly comming from the front end. I noticed that I dosent really happen when I am idling in park or when i first cold start the car. It just started this once i broke the first endlink. I thought if I replaced both endlinks, this problem would stop. Any suggestions?

Re: Car still shakes

So, it's the motor that's shaking then. First place I'd look is vacuum lines - a small vacuum leak can make an idling engine run like crap.

Re: inner tie rod fix

the tierod ends are not going to precent the car from shaking at idle.

Do you have a broken motor mount or trans mount?

Aside from shaking, how does the car run? is it running smooth or is something wrong
