where do you place the jack?

Well when i jacked up my camaro to polish the wheels i could only do 1 wheel at a time and i would place the jack where the strong points and but i know there's gotta be a safe area to jack to lift both rear and or front wheels all at once. could i have a pic to show me? and where should you place jackstands? also to tighten the wheels you want to use 100tq correct? thanks. yes im using a floor jack.

Re: where do you place the jack?

In the front you can put the jack under the k-member ( its the thick crossmember that goes under your oil pan) remember that your exhaust runs right behind it dont confuse them. you can put the jack stands under the swaybar bushings. if they have a nipple to put grease in them just unscrew it and set it to the side so you dont mess it up. As far as the back goes you can put the jack under the center of the axle and put the stands on the lower control arm bushings.

The K-member is the best place to jack these cars up in the front. The "jacking rails" will often crush or deform when used.

for the front, my preferance is typically to put the stands under the control arm bushings, where they mount to the k-member. On the rear, you can go anywhere on the axle tubes...the further apart, the better.

Just food for thought, its really not a good idea to put the the entire weight of the car onto the bushings and crush them.

Re: where do you place the jack?

Where is a good place to leave jackstands under the front end for a long period of time? There is currently no k-member in the car...

Id have to say the only spot is the frame where you would jack it up noramaly or where you put the pads for a hoist. Thats the only place i can think of at the moment

good point! I don't always do that, but, I have. More reason to replace them (with better bushings!)
