Ride height differences
I'm on my 3rd Camaro but most recently I went from a 91 RS to a 89 IROC. My RS was severly damaged in a parking garage by some evil bitch. The RS sat pretty low to start but by the time I got the car it had 175k on it and very fatigued springs and the 5.0l so I installed so Eibach Pro 1" springs. The car sat about the same but no longer bounced and bottomed out going into drive ways.
I put these springs on my IROC and that car does not sit anywhere near as low. I thought the ride height difference originaly was in taller and stiffer springs between an IROC and RS but it seems to be that is not it.
I have not gotten into looking at the two closely yet and searched but found nothing so, what makes the ride height difference in the two?

Re: Ride height differences
Mad, welcome to TGO. The IROC had a .5 inch lowered ride height (Springs determine ride height.) Check the following link for more info, but if IIRC, the Z28 (and perhaps the RS) spring height is 11 inches while the IROC is 10.75.

Hey Mean350,
I wish all the yada weighed it down but its gone the wrong way.
The IROC sits higher than the RS
Now that is what I thought as well.
When I pulled the IROC springs out and set them next to the 1" lower Eibachs the IROC springs were much taller than 1".
What makes things worse and more confusing, The RS sat low (about as low as the Z28 in the pic from the link you provided). I had all new steering and suspension parts in the RS so, I took all those parts (control arms with the new bushings and ball joints, left the spindles attached, struts and strut bearings) and installed them onto the IROC expecting the IROC to sit as low as the RS but it does not.

Here is the IROC with all the RS stuff installed as well as the Eibach coils,

Ok it seems I can not use the insert image thing. Maybe because I'm new???
But anywhooo, Why does the IROC sit higher with all the goods from the RS. One would assume the IROC should have the same stance as the RS did.

Re: Ride height differences
OE ride height is, though I've never been able to verifiy it, 27.5. How's your set-up compare? And as 88 mentions, have you indexed properly?

Re: Ride height differences
I just measured the IROC and its 27". I can no longer measure the RS but it clearly sat lower.
The front spoiler on the RS would just clear those cement blocks in a parking lot while the IROC has lots of room to spare.
And yes the springs are in correctly. I have had so many years experience in R&R'ing springs I do it faster without a spring compressor and just use a prybar and floor jack. (and never had any damage or injury)
