Strut Tower Brace

I want to add a STB to my '86 Z28. I've got a dual snorkel air cleaner, though. Anyone got some pics of their set-up? I want to weld the STB myself. Thanks.

I don't have pictures up, but the STB and the DSAC will fit no problem. I have an '86 too, and I thought it would be a problem. I have the Edelbrock version of the STB.

I bought the Edelbrock one for my 86 and i would not clear the A/C compressor. So now I have George Lara's STB.

Does anyone know if the Edelbrock 3 point STB will clear an Accel SuperRam setup?

I have the edelbrock brace and the dual snorkel aircleaner, I can't get the one in let hose on (pass side). I did have to trim the a/c bracket slightly, you can't tell though.

As I recall, some carb equipped cars had the a/c compressor on the passenger side and some on the drivers side.I think it had to do with serpentine vs.V belt pulleys.

My car has V pulleys and the compressor is on the drivers side. These cars are the cars that experience clearence problems with Edelbrock STB's.

As for Hummers question, I've been pondering the same project.I think that a 1" O.D. tube will clear the snorkels and the hood. I layed a piece of PVC across the snorkels and gently closed the hood and it closed. It will be a tight fit. I was figureing on attaching it with removeable pins if the air cleaner is too hard to get off. You will then have to triangluate it to a hard point somewhere.

Some are faster but mine's fast enough.

I'll second George Lara's STB. It's a great piece and no drilling is required.

Anyone have a picture of George Lara's STB? or a web page?

Wasn't George Lara's car the 84 Red Z28? If so, I remember the STB. It had the triangler braces that went up to the radiater support instead of the firewall. I think that I saw him posting over at Z28.com while Third Gen was down. You also might try searching Third Gen's archives under his name.
