Re: Need Help Rebuilding My Front End

I'm in the same boat...1986 camaro that makes the same sound...thinking it's time to redo the entire front suspension. Wish there was a step by step process online for our cars. I'm no mechanic, but can follow directions well.

Hopefully, some one will chime in...

Re: Need Help Rebuilding My Front End

sounds like the balljoints need to be replaced. i'm 26 and started working on my car when i was 18/19 with no experience and nothing more than the basic tools, theese cars are very easy to learn how to work on. my guess is that if the front bushings weren't in correctly they would probably be loose and the car would be scary as hell to drive, so they're probably ok.....

Re: Need Help Rebuilding My Front End

O okay. So that's is were I am gonna start at with the front ball joints. Do you know if they have to be press out or can you do it easily with a hammer or something else. In fact my camaro drives alrite just the knocking noise that I am worry about.
I did replace the idle arm a while back, the old one way turning freely and that elimated one thing off the list.
Can anyone let me know if to replace the ball joints are easy or kinda hard.
Thanks
