vert rides like ****.. need advice
it leans and is lop sided... wont be hitting corners fast at all. i know i want air shocks for the rear but not sure what brand. also for the fronts want to replace alot but not sure on what exactly.. goal is ride quality and looking for the effect that if you close yyour eyes it feels like a new car... just not trying to spend that much $$$$

Re: vert rides like ****.. need advice
sounds like you have a broken spring. Chance the springs and get good replacement shocks and struts. Dont get the air shocks, they are a horrible idea.

Re: vert rides like****.. need advice
whats wrong with air shocks in the rear? i want to lower or raise it at will. ive been looking at strut replacement but 300-500 to me is extreme.
what do you or anyone else suggest? again i want the smooth ride and the vehicle will never see hard corners.. more the cruiser

Re: vert rides like ****.. need advice
the air shocks put all the weight of the car on the shock mounts, in particular the upper mount which is only in sheet metal. Without doing some reinforcement work, the air shock will eventually tear the mount out.

^^^^^
is that off of personal knowing or word of mouth?
i see cars with them all the time. if those arent good what are some good ones that will allow me to raise or lower?

want to adjust the cars stance to my liking. whenever i decide to change rim and tire package or audio i can do that with ease with air shocks.

Re: vert rides like ****.. need advice
"At will" only if you have a on board air compressor and a regulator.
Seems like you'd rather have a Honkey Donk. You would be better to just airbag that car.

Re: vert rides like ****.. need advice
It rides like ..... , because you have rubber bands for tires.
No sidewall = no cushioning from the road.
If you want it to ride good, get smaller wheels so you can get tires with taller sidewalls. With those wheels, you'll ride rough or....ride rough. Those are your only current options with those wheels.

Re: vert rides like ****.. need advice
so seeing how it rides like ... with stock rims also, u make no point. my question is to focus on suspension parts not tires. as you see in one pic, the driver side gap is about 3_4 inchs greater the passenger. looking to ride a lil over the tire (1"-2")... if anyone knows a nice spring and strut set up for front and rear let me know.. not wanting to spend 500 for struts, its not that deep.
I stand by my "your rubber band tires make it RIDE bad".....If you are complaining about how it SITS, that is a whole other issue.
Your pics are of rubber band tires, not stock tires, so I based my observation on what what you showed your car as. You never said anything bout a stock tire size. You can't complain about advice you get, if you don't present all the facts.
As for how it SITS? Either you've got:
A...Broken springs (on the low side)
B...Mismatched springs.....Be it V8 springs & V6 springs/lowering springs on one side/cut springs on one side/broken springs on one side.
Whatever the case is, A or B, your springs would need replacing.
As for air shocks......
A 3rd gens shock mounts to a sheet metal section & only serve to dampen the ride. Springs are what support the cars weight. Put air shocks on & you'll be expecting the sheet metal to support the weight of your car. Hope you don't have rear seat passengers.....I would hate to be the one sitting back there when the sheet metal eventually fails, the shocks come up through the floor & impale the rear sear passenger in the back!

Re: vert rides like ****.. need advice
I agree with Stephen that something is wrong with your front springs/shocks. My brother had air shocks on his 67 nova, and though they worked ok, they were only good for one adjustment (all the way up). They would also eventually leak and you would have to fill them up again. By the time you implement a system to control the shocks (compressor, piping, switches, valves) you are already halfway to the price of air bags, and they are far superior to air shocks. I would just fix your current suspension and save up for a complete air ride system (expensive I know but will be soooo much happier with the control factor and ride qualities)

IMO, its a combination of the two. Do not get upset when you ask a question, and the answer is not what you expected to hear.

Yes, worst case scenario, but better planning for it NOT to happen, than being surprised when it does.my initial post was about ride quality, but asked about struts not tires. if you havent been in a car with low tires that are actually good tires, your opinion is only that and not a fact. ive rode in a car with 25series tires and youd never know. until you got out and looked.
now my initial question, what struts and shocks up front will lower about 1-2 inches? thanks 4 all those with their help

Re: vert rides like ****.. need advice
Shocks and struts in general are not really made to be adjustable in height (adjustable in compression and rebound, yes). You can get different spring sizes (to lower your car) or get a coil-over kit since some come with a height adjustment ability. Just type in coil over kits for a camaro and see what you get. But for just lowering your car, different springs will be a much, much cheaper route.
