Stock Camaro Spring Rates

I run a Pure Stock Race Car at a circle track here in Seekonk, Mass. I am trying to find out Stock Springs what the rating in foot pounds is on the stock springs. I have a set of 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder springs. I am looking for the front and rear. Reason I am asking is especially in the front I cannot use a after market Racing Spring since I am unable to find a spring that is the same large height of the stock spring that is in our cars. I have tried to search and have came out with nothing that I can use any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Re: Stock Camaro Spring Rates

iroc/z28 got #550? up front, most rears are about #107, moog makes stiffer stock replacements, and you can always buy a taller spring and trim it to be a desired height, but with a stiffer rate.... not sure what your rules will allow you to do..... can you run weight jackers? or any standard lowering spring, some don't even give a noticable drop but offer stiffer spring rates....

According to the previous owner the moog springs are in there, these are our rules for suspension.

13. Suspension must remain stock to make, model and year. Front camber can be changed to gain
maximum allowed using stock factory adjustments. No modifications permitted to any suspension
components except, cars with upper and lower A-frames may replace upper A-frame mounting bolts.
Strut cars may change strut mounting bolts on spindle and lengthen adjustment slots at top of strut
tower. No other modifications will be permitted. Coil springs must have the same diameter wire size
from left to right. No coil spring adjusters or shims. Rear coil springs must have at least one side with
pig tail end with stock overall diameter. No solid or neoprene bushings permitted anywhere. Leaf
springs cars must use the same number of leafs per side with no lowering plates. Only stock shackles
may be used. Sway bar must be stock with Maximum diameter 1-1/8 inches. Sway bar connections to
lower A-frames may be altered with no other modifications. All cars must have chassis keep 5-1/2 inch
ground clearance with driver at all times. Unibody cars will be measured at sub frames.
Maximum camber rule: The right front wheel may only have a maximum negative camber of 3”
(inches) as measured at top of tire from middle of sidewall. No More!

Re: Stock Camaro Spring Rates

according to your rules you can run any lenghth width or rate of spring as long as they are the same from left to right, but also according to the rules your stock front swaybar is too big to use, at least the stock 34/36mm are too big

The problem I run into is ride height If I use the lower springs I cant meet ride height. And I did not now that about the sway bar ?

Re: Stock Camaro Spring Rates

the prokit gave me no drop until i trimmed the springs. as far as stock ride height, i have seen anywhere from 26 1/2" to 28 1/2" no 20 year old stock camaros will sit exactly the same. Springs sag with age.... my guess is you have either a ride height tolerance range. Or it won't even come into question unless some one says that car is way to low......

the 1 1/8" swaybar is less than 29mm, thats pretty small most run 32-36mm up front, i'm not sure if there is even a stock swaybar that is less than 1 1/8" there maybe a 28mm stock bar,

it doesn't mention if the 1 1/8 is for the front or rear or both, so i would assume it means both, correct?
