255's way too big for the front? What do you guys think?

I got 255/50/16's in the front. they rub the sidewall when i cut the wheel sharp. Is this going to become a problem? Should i bump down to 245? I like the tires though their Dunlop sport 5000's.
Also one more question the previous owner of the car (89 formula 350) had the camber way off so the tires were worn on one side. Along with the ****ed up camber the tie rods needed to be replaced to pass inspection. Would these be related? I'm guessin the previous owner beat on it when he drove it. Anyways I still love the car and would never get rid of a thirdgen.
Thanks

You should be OK. I test fitted 255's on my front, and they rubbed as much as the 235's that I have there now. Next time I buy tires, it will be 255's for the front.

my friend has 255/50/16's on his 91 Formula. He hasn't mentioned any problems with them.
He put that size on so it would take away some of the wheel well gap. I have 245/50/16's on my 86 T/A and I just noticed today that my wheel rubs on my sway bar when I turn hard. I noticed this because I just painted my sway bar red and it is rubbing off in one spot, the spot where the wheel rubs.

I can actually hear it rubbing, kinda freaks me out every time I make a sharp turn. I guess I'm just overly worried which is a good thing!!

I am now running 18X9.5 wheels with P275/35ZR18 tires on all corners. The tires only touch a little when the wheel is cranked at full lock. This is with Suspension Techniques springs...

Hey GMI, how do you like your ST springs? I want to get some new springs and I have a book that says that they got an IROC-Z to pull 1.0 g's with only ST sport pack, consiting of springs, swaybars, and bushings, then some Bilstiens up front and adjustable Konis in the rear. I am comparing Intrax with ST right now. Any help would be apreciated.

Why would the 255 tires rub just as much as the 245 tires. Wouldn't the 255 tires rub more. I'm getting new tires pretty soon, so if I got 255 tires they would'nt rub anymore then the 245 tires? If I did get 255 it wouldn't fu^k anything up, would it? How would they look? Anybody have any pics of 255 tires on a TA compared to a TA with 245 tires, or any comments comparing the two?

Stingerssx: I have always liked Suspension Techniques products! Very high quality, and nice ride characteristics. The Eibach Pro-Kit springs are okay, but where I work I have seen different drop heights for identical cars using the same Eibach springs!

I had 245 60 R15's in mine and they rubbed bad when I made a full left or right turn. The sound it made was really loud. I went to 235 60 R15's and I have no probs now. I think they rub a little but not bad enough to notice. It also depends on how high the front sits and how strong are your springs. I just put brand new springs in mine and have no probs with the 235's now. You might be able to put in bigger with new springs.

I have 255/50/ZR16's on my 89 RS. It has IROC wheels, and it doesn't scrub at all. However, I used to have a set of 235/60/15's on Cragar 15X8 wheels on my 82 Z28 and they scrubbed terribly in both directions, so rims a lot to do with it, but if you have factory 16" wheels they shouldn't scrub.
