Why is my frontend popping?

Why does the front end keep popping when making turns and when "flexing" the suspenion when everyday driving? Is it just the cold? Are my bushings shot? Please give me some help!!! This is driving me crazy. I have 192,000 miles so it could probally be anything. Thanks in advance for any help!!!!!!

Noise could be from alot of things such as ball joint going bad, worn out bushing and also your strut. To check if your ball joints are bad, raise car under the front lower control arm to 1 to 2 inches off the ground. Utilize a bar under the wheel and pry upwards. If the wheel raises more than 1/8 in the ball joints are bad. Hope this helps.

When the idler arm wears out or looses the grease fitting it has a tendency to make popping noises. If your steering components are high mileage and they money is there change them out. Or conduct a good service, bolts nuts tight? Grease in grease fittings? Wheel bearings cleaned greased?

Mine was doing it for a while and I couldn't figure it out.I checked the ball joints, idler arm,and whatever else I could think of.Finally I took it to get aligned, and Bingo! It solved the problem. I just bought a 90 RS lastnight for my wife to play around with, and it was doing the same until we got it back from an alignment shop today. So I guess try that if all the other things check out fine(ball joints, idler arm,etc.).

check behind your steering box. You probably have a cracked frame. Look at the box and have someone turn your steering wheel side to side and look for any movement. Also listen to where the noise is coming from. Most frt.end parts make a clunking or clicking noise. If it is a loud metallic POPPING noise, then this is probably it.

he said FRONT END. A split tranny mount will cause a banging from the trans tunnel under acceleration. On a stick car the shifter will also come popping up, so no it's not your tranny mount.

A broken stabilizer end link can produce a "popping" noise. When the top of mine broke, at certain times (turning and bumps), the shaft of the unit would hit against the bottom of the upper A arm.

Just when you think it is something huge, it can be something simple. Check the basics first.

P.S. Easy to fix.
