Cutting the springs or suspension kits?!?!?

Hi, I really need to lower my T/A because it looks silly. There is so much room between the tire and the wheel-well and I don't like it. I would like to know if a suspesion kit is in order or can I simply cut the springs.

you could cut your springs, but it will throw off the geometry of the front end. your best bet would be to buy lowering spindles for the front and lowering springs for the back. You could chop the back ones, and it shouldnt hurt anything to bad, but the lowering springs arent that expensive, so if you have a little extra cash, you should do it the right way.

Yes, lowering will change the geometry, but it will *improve* it by allowing some negative camber, which is hard to get on a 3rd gen. Cutting the springs will also stiffen them, which is also good to keep from bottoming. The trick is to cut the right amount. Remember, the spring is about half way between the wheel and the control arm pivot point, so the car will drop twice as much as you would at first expect. No amount of cutting will bring it up again. Use a cutoff wheel, not a torch, and start out with no more than 1/2 a coil. Both ends of the front springs are square, but one end is more "open" than the other. That is the end to cut and keep them the same way up.
