Bad ball joint, or bad control arm?

Hi guys. I was doing a power brake infront of a 2010 Challenger while at the mall. When I got onto the main road, I noticed a banging sensation like if I have a bad wheel bearing. So I pulled over and slid under my small jack and began the tugging and pulling on the wheel. So I went home, had my wife record me in action so that I can show the problem in video. Here is the link. Any advice would be great. OHH, the passenger side doesnt have any play like the driverside. So is this the cause of the banging while driving?

Tie rod. Idler arm. center link . Check them. And yes that would make a banging noise

Re: Bad ball joint, or bad control arm?

Cool. I just bought 2 sway bar links, 2 lower ball joints, 4 lower control arm bushings, idler arm. All I need is 2 new struts. Also, do I need the whole center link,or just the bushings?

Re: Bad ball joint, or bad control arm?

um no one noticed the entire bal joint was moving in that video? IIRC the lower ball joints on these cars are pressed in with a C clip at the top, wither you busted your control arm, or the C clip flew out and you pressed the ball joint out with the brake torque. press new ball joints in and make sure the C clip is fully seated.

Re: Bad ball joint, or bad control arm?

Thanks Brandon. Well, on hand, I got 2 new ball joints, 2 new sway bar links, 4 new lower control arm bushings, a new center link, and the idler arm. Now I just need the struts but Im going to get em this coming month. Agian, my IROC sits without any play time. Is there any thing else that I need to have my front end suspension up to par?

Re: Bad ball joint, or bad control arm?

Also from the looks of the play in the ball joint, is it wise to buy a lower control arm from a junk yard?
