ok need help wana lower my car but have no idea what to look for!!

as i said i want to lower my car. not much maybe a 1" or so. so should i go with springs? eibach or what? whats the difference in the different springs they carry? or what about spindles? what are u easier for the do it yourself mechanic shade tree or what ever else u call them. i take pride in doing things myself so that is why i am asking trying to figure this out. also if i lower my car and i have 16x8 centerlines on there 2 55 on the front and 27x 11.5 16 ont he back i have already messaged my fenderwells will i have ne problem with the tires rubbing i wouldnt think so i see people with 17's on their car and lowered but i thoughti would ask. any pics of lowered firebirds would be great thanks. sorry this all probably seems dumb but just want everything just right!
thanks for all the help guys.. and either way i lower it i can do it myself couldnt i?

I have the eibach pro kit springs on my car. Dropped it about an 1" and were a HUGE improvement over my 18 year old stock springs. The othe eibach kit is designed to drop your car 3"-4" and unless you want a lowrider, that's really too much. Hotchkis also makes a set of springs. You can do the work yourself as long as you have a nice big jack and some jackstands and a free weekend. Just look in a chilton's or haynes book to see the procedure. While you're at it, go ahead and replace the struts and shocks.
