"91-'92 Firehawk Wheels Rub on Tie-rod End
I have a '92 Z28 and am trying to run the 17" X 9.5" Ronal Firehawk rims with 275 40ZR17 Bridgestone Potenza RE730/Nitto NT555R Drag radials. The problem is, the inside edge of the rim rubs on the tie-rod end. Is this a common problem, or do I need to grind off a small amount from my tie-rod end? I'm trying to avoid spacers if at all possible. I only need a few millimeters to get it to clear. How did the Firehawks avoid this?

Hey Frank, The Z28 in CHP awhile back used TT II's 17X9.5's with the same size tires that your using. With a 5.5" backspacing it did mention grinding a small amount off the tierod ends.I'm not sure what your backspacing on those wheels are but it would have to be close to the 5.5. I'd say grind i minimal amount off and see if helps but don't get to carried away.weak tierod=badnews
