Baer Brakes

I just installed Baer's 12" Sport System with 16" IROC wheels. I took some pics of the inside clearance. Anyone have any pics with the 13" rotor? This one comes close.. Sorry if they are blurry or big..new camera.

Looks great Omar. If you went with the 13" rotors you would add about 1/2" do the diameter you have now. It's hard to tell, but you probably don't have quite that much room left. I had heard that the fins on the caliper could be ground off a little to make them work. But for the amount of money invested in the system, I wasn't going to take a chance on having a problem. You won't be disappointed in the performance at all. The 13" system uses the same calipers and pads as what you have now. The only advantage you would get is a small one with more leverage on the larger diameter rotor. The Baer rep I talked to said preformance is almost the same. I would bet that under road racing conditions you could tell a difference, but other than that very little. Good luck, take your time braking them in... it'll be worth it. Rob.

Are those stock spindles the Bear brakes are on? Do you know if they would work on Belltech 2" dropped spindles? Bottom line..how much did the front kit cost you?

Tadder, I just happen to have Bell Tech's drop spindles on my car. That is what you are seeing in the pics. The only bad part about that is that they charge you for new spindles, and they DO NOT accept your old spindles back for a core. So you are either stuck with them, or selling them on ebay or something.

So you are saying you got the kit with spindles you did not need right? Getting rid of the spindles should not be too bad. Did this kit bolt right onto the dropped spindles? Please tell me they did. I would like to know the number for your front kit. The brakes look great. Other companies told me that I would have to send them the spindles and they would have to modify. Who to believe?

What Baer does is send you a Bell Tech spindle completely built up already. It has the rotor, anchor plate, caliper, and pads built onto them. You take your old spindles off, and just bolt on this new unit. Your old spindles are now paperweights, or an ebay auction.

Baer has different names for their systems. Their most popular being the 12" Sport System and the 13" Track system. When you order, you just tell them to build whatever system you order onto Bell Tech spindles.

I got a little ansy with my sig, but I get my new Probuilt 700R4 this monday or tuesday. After that, I will give it a wash and take some pics of the finished product.

Thanks for all of the info on this subject. You have solved my problem. A call to Baer brakes is the answer. I will call them this summer and just tell them what I need. Look forward to seeing the brakes on the car.

As soon as i get the money i think i'll get the 12" package zink washed with slotted rotors. They look awesome and perform even better. Ive heard they are also lighter than the stock brakes, is this true?
