Removing Control Arm Bushings...Burn 'em or Press 'em?
what did YOU do when you rebuilt your front end (or have the shop do?)
did you blow them out with a torch or did you have them pressed out?
I've heard that pressing them is hard on the control arm, but I'm skeptical.

HEY!
I've got one of those. what's the preferred method there (how do you knock out)? do you hammer away at the rubber until it's gone? do you have to worry about tearing up the control arm? I might give it a whirl tonight with the arm I just pulled off of a wrecked IROC.
thanks
Clem

You could use the air chisel, but if you slip enough you'll end up chopping the control arm. It's really not that hard to let the blade slip! It only costs a couple of bucks at a machine shop to have them do it, and IMO safer as well.
If you take the control arm to a machine shop, they're gonna use an air chisel to get them out. The big short bushing is easy w/ the chisel, but the long one is knurled at the end. I just take a blunt tip and wrinkle it in then go at it w/ the chisel. When you press the new ones in, make sure you use spacers in between the control arm holes so you don't collapes it.
