RPO code FE2.....what does that mean in terms of sway bar size???

I looked up RPO code FE2 and it said suspension system, ride handling. Does this mean I have the big sway bars? What size are they? It is from an '89 IrocZ. Reason I ask is because my swaybar bushings are shot and I dont know what size they are??

I have FE2 on my '89 IROC and I believe that I have the 36mm front and 24mm back.

The FE2 depends on year, I believe. For example, my 85 IROC has the FE2 RPO, but the front sway was only 32 mm. The 36 mm front wasn't available in Camaros until 89. Should you be looking for a 36/24 mm combo, see my ad in the classified.

My87IROC,

I wouldn't argue too strenuously, since GM has done some bizarre things over the years, but your 87 shouldn't have a 36 front--unless you've swapped yours out as I have mine.

Some thirdgen Camaros had the 36/24mm combo from 89-92 while some Firebirds had it from 86-92.

Dave,

I'm not sure what yours would be, mostly likely a 32 or 34. The 36 is hollow so you'd lose a bit of weight, and it would certainly be stronger than a 32 solid or 34 hollow. Should you be looking for a suspension upgrade, you might consider the swap. I think you'll notice less roll when cornering at speeds. I used GM 1LE type poly end links and the higher duometer insulators. Along with Spohn LCAs and panhard, ES's poly tranny and torque arm mount, and Global West's SFCs, I'm smilin'!

Hey James, I agree with you about bizarre
things especially without documentation
but the reason I know I have a 36mm which
by the way is hollow is that I just rebult
my front suspension with new everything
and the sway bar bushings that came in
the package were to small by a long shot
I got a set from guldstrand 36mm fit
perfect, and also the reason I know they
are original is cause I knew the guy I
bought the car from knew nothing about
cars or what a sway bar is, I bought the
car cause he said it would not run, he
tried a tune up and smashed his finger,
through a brick through the windshield
and parked it for 3 mths. I got for $1000
fixed windshield and new fuel pump only
had 65k on odometer and all original,
runs great know that I rebuilt frontend
handles great to. And btw he was the
original owner. I am the second and prob.
the last.
