Broken Ladder Bars.

So im swapping my 350 tpi in a 89 IROC to the 350PC1 from year one (great deal I thought) and putting in a new tranny to deal with the 423 horse. I was under the car yesterday diconecting my stock torque arm from the tail shaft and I realized that my F***ing around doing burnouts cost me BOTH my ladder bars. The bracket that holds my strut in plact on the rear is cracked to fml. So im wondering the best way to go from here. Do I replace the ladder bars and if so with what, or is there a better way to go with the torque arm or something else im missing... Its the stock rear end with 100,000 on the ticker so i know this extra power isnt going to make it last much longer but I want to keep it as stable as possible until i get a ford 9" or something tougher in there... What are your suggestion? Again the setup is a 350 .30 over from year one (dynoed at 423hp 441ftlbs) a 700r4 built to hold 500hp and the rear is the stock 2.77. Any help or better ideas for the rear is appriciated.

Re: Broken Ladder Bars.

These cars don't have ladder bars. I'm confused to what part you're actually talking about. There is the panhard bar that runs behind the rear end to the frame on the passenger side mount. There are two lower control arms that run parallel with the chassis and then a torque arm.

They don't have traction bars, either. Do you mean the lower control arms?

Re: Broken Ladder Bars.

I guess. They are on each end of the rear and keep the torque from lifting the diff up. Have a single rod on each side running forward to just shy of the sub frame connectors.

Re: Broken Ladder Bars.

And its the brackets that hold them on the rear that are broken. Where can I get replacements?

Re: Broken Ladder Bars.

The torque arm keeps the torque from rotating the diff, the LCAs are to keep it in track.

There are no replacements for the brackets, you could get them rewelded.

Sure you don't have southside machine bars on that car? How about posting a pic?
