Struts and Shocks

I am sure this has been hashed before, but companies change things all the time. I have a 92 SBC Firebird that is going to the shop to have the Southside lift kit installed. Once that is done, I need to change out the struts and shocks, since they are about shot. Any suggestion on who's to go with? Since we street race a bit, I was leaning towards an adjustable front strut, maybe!

So KYB is the way to go for a performance street car? I'm trying to be honest with myself, I probably won't be doing any autocrosses or anything

Where's the best place to buy KYB? Or are they available everywhere, like Gabriel?

You may wanna check out Koni. They are also available through Jeg's/Summit. They're a little cheaper, but are still adjustable. And from what I understand, you don't have to remove them to adjust them. I don't know if you have to take out the KYB's or not, but I heard that you do. KYB's are the best, but some of us can't afford what we want.

I have the KYB AGX and you don't have to take them out to adjust. The fronts are 4 way on top, The rears have a 8 way **** on the side. I haven't got the rears on yet, so I'm not sure if you can get to the **** without removing the wheels, but there is no way you would have to remove them. I was told the Konis are top adjusting in the back too. If so, they would be a pain to adjust. I would ask Summit.

AJ, Koni's are way more expensive than kyb's. The yellow's will run you about $600 for all four! Koni are also considered to be the best shock on the market. Later

You can usually find a $30 off or % off cupon online and get them fro carparts.com

I just ordered a full set of gr2's and paid $133 shiped. Not adjustable, but they do have the AGX or Gas-Adjust as well.

I'm sorry. I got the names mixed up. Reverse what I said. I have been looking at many options for my car, and I guess I've seen to many choices. Now I am sooo confused!!! But not to worry. I'll never get confused enough to buy a F-*cker O-nly R-olls D-ownhill!!!

Thats the worst part, you don't really know what you need, and what is just NICE to have.

I've got a set of Macpherson gas struts/shocks. Very nice. Not adjustable though, and very stiff.

What is that supposed to mean? I don't quite get your point. Are you directing that slur at me, or just the situation in general?

If it's at me, your right. I dont' know what I need, except a beer and a BJ!!! Really though, I'm still debating on keeping the car streetable, or going all out drag. That's what I am still trying to figure out. I guess I'll start small and work my way up from there.

So many t*ts, so little time.

No, it was not directed at you, it was a general statement. Do, you, me, or anyone else for that matter, need to spend a lot of money on adjustable struts and shocks, or are they just a "nice to have" item.

Speaking of shocks and struts,,,I went to goodyear place asking prices.. and the dude says that the mosoms or whateverthey carrier are the best there are... THEN he busts out with 145 PER shock and then 90 PER strut.. f that... Think the were over pricing a bit? or am I excpecting too much out of them?
