replacing front LCA bushings.....do i have to install the LCA in a certain position??

friday i'm replacing the front susp. on my car...struts, springs, ball joints, LCA bushings etc. i was reading a haynes or chiltons a while back and it mentioned something about measuring the location of the LCA bolts in relationship to the ground so you can reinstall the LCA in the same position. is this true, or a pile of crap? i would think that if the LCA position was adjustable, then it would be floppin all over when you hit bumps, even w/ tight bolts. thanks for any info

I rebuilt my whole front end and didnt encounter any type of adjustment or movement where they bolt up. It can only go in one way I believe.

Probably what you read was about the idler arm height, usually referenced by the relay rod which has a flat spot on it right by the front LCA bolt. The trick usually used is to place a socket on that bolt and measure the distance between the socket and the flat spot at the pitman arm FIRST, and then do the same for the idler arm, using the same dimension...

nah i'm sure i read it about the LCA cause i double checked and found it again. it said to torque the LCA bolts at "Z curb hight" in the chiltons, and haynes said to torque them with the wheels on the ground, whatever. but the idler arm thing i've been wondering about forever, cause i replaced it and didnt set it up right for some dumb reason, so thanks a lot for the help!!
