And me.. I was at my garage the other day and a Formula had Porsche calipers and drilled rotors on the front. Looked good and was more than a little effective. Problem is his front wheels were spaced out to clear them, he should really be running 17"'s

But Willwood, I cant see why more people aint into them. They have many different levels of brake, make sure it is the heavy duty type

I can tell you why there isn't much Wilwood out there...

It's because there isn't much to them. In contrast to what's REALLY available from them for a custom job, their 3rd-gen kit kinda sucks.

The 3rd-gen kit uses 10.75" rotors, and Dynalite II calipers. Those rotors are no larger than stock, and the calipers have too small pad surface area for a 2800lb+ car. And they call it HEAVY DUTY!!!!

Now, I suppose if you're drag racing, it'd be OK, since the whole thing is MUCH lighter, but I see "Wilwood" and think 'serious brakes'. Then I find out THAT is what they offer for it... Pfft!

In stark contrast, if you have a Mustang, the kit comes with 12" rotors, and you can spec a step larger calipers to match.

I tried to contact Wilwood to see if they'd mix up a better kit for 3rd-gen F-bodies, but after 4 attempts, I've had no response.

They'll not have any of MY hard-earned green....

well wilwood and jfz the us veterans!
willwood is the choice for a drag set up!light cheap and easy to work on! get all parts real quick even at the track!
Don´t even think of using this setup on the street!!
It´s not vented and not up to daily highway or hard street use!!
We talked to wilwood weeks ago and asked for infos ! the tech dept is up to the task, we do have the feeling that a real 3.gen kit which would blow the 1LE market is not in works there!
they have every part listed with real perfect info ...people who ever wants to go on a willwood selfmade kit let us know!!!!!
they have alu hubs (2 piece disc!!) and monster diameter ! we only need an adapter no carrier search like on 1LE and no waiting on parts!
we do have several members that would go for a kit!
the 950-140-2992B ( only 599$)just needs to be upgraded 2 steps to make it a real kit!
any ideas out there??
any member running a bigger wilwood kit?
they are used in nascar so pls....
CP Camaro you are right and wrong!
the 3.gen kits see number above are ....! But there are more systhem parts at wilwood than anywhere else! This is the cap we could use to create a "selfmade setup"!
You are right with there speed on response!

Wilwood should have a bolt on big brake kit for Thirdgens in about six months. The kit will include 13inch vented rotors and six piston calipers and will be in the $900 to $1100 price range depending on options. The kit does not come with spindles, so you will have to do the spindle modifications yourself.

It'd be nice to see Wilwood become an alternate to Baer. At least it sounds like the Baer-like price will get you more at Wilwood, IF they make it.

BTW, JFZ is no more. Their brake components can be found at www.sierraracing.com .They have no kits, just parts to do custom jobs with.

Personally, I'm probably going to go with Wide-5 hubs, and 12" rotors with 4 or 6 piston calipers. The only reason I require 12" rotors is that I run 16" wheels. So far, the 17" radial slicks suck rocks.

The Aerospace Components parts have the same problems as Wilwood. Their "heavy-duty" kit, well,.. just isn't. However, they can be excused because they advertised that most of their stuff is for drag racing. They do list parts for mondo brakes, but the kit is $2300. (yikes!)

Actually I was going threw this same problem when purchasing my front brake kit.The kit I have IS made for street driving,The kit sold in Jegs is not the same as my Pro Street kit.The Aerospace kit in Jegs is comparable to the "heavy duty" Wilwood setup. The Prostreet setup,Which I have is about a $100 more and the rotors are as thick as stock and can be turned if need be and last a long time on street driven vehicles. Not to be mistaken for the paper thin, willwood and Aerospace heavy duty strip/street setups. You have to call Aerospace for the Pro street kit as Jegs doesnt stock it.Just thought Id throw this in,since the facts need be known.
