Sub Frame connectors for 'verts.

Well, I got a nail in my tire and had to get it patched up in a hurry. The mechanic jacked up the rear driver's side and got the wheel off the ground. But all the other wheels stayed on the ground... Does this translate as a case of really bad flexing? I thought that 'verts are supposed to come with subframe connectors. Even if they are not as good as aftermarket subframe connectors, at least it should be able to prevent my car from flexing so much...

Anyways, my plea to all of you... where can I find SFC for my 1989 IROC 'vert? Everywhere I look, sellers always add that they do not fit on 'verts since they already have SFCs... There must be one that fits!!! Help!!!

Thanks!

No you do not have SFC from the factory. But what they did is to box the rocker area to make it a little stronger. This is where most SFC go thats why they don't fit. Kenny Brown makes a nice set of weld in SFCs. Short of a full roll cage you will never get all the flex out. SFCs will help alot (worth the money). If you want fresh air and sunshine a price must be paid!!

The alstons work as well. Steve spohn's do not as of yet, but hopefully some time soon he will get the time to make them.

Okay, I found the Kenny Brown SFC. Where do I find the Alston SFCs? I tried doing a search on the net, but no one seems to sell them.

Humm, I jacked up my Camaro the other day and I jacked it up in the center as high as the jack would go and the damn tires stayed on the ground!!!!!

I suppose if I hooked it up to a crane and hosted it up in the air the tires would just **** over and under? lol

You can get the Alston's from Internet Racers Supply. They call them their "Terminator" series, but it is in fact the Alston's. In fact they often drop ship them directly from Alston. I see IRS has dropped thirdgen F-bodies from their web page though. Call them to order the SFC's. Good luck, Lon.

Sweetness! I guess I'll give them a call and order them. Those Alstons are pretty good. No ground clearance is lost, which is a good thing since I plan to lower my car.

Now all I have to do is find someone to weld them in for me... Who typically does this type of work? Suspension shops?

Thanks!

Don't believe the "no ground clearance lost" claim. True this isn't the lowest point on the car, but you will scrape them on some speed bumps especially if lowered and with passengers. Typically a muffler shop that installs custom exhaust systems will work well. The best choice is a shop with a drive-on style lift and MIG or TIG welding expertise. I recommend a muffler shop in case they have to tweek the exhaust (typically at the cat) for clearance. You don't want them touching the cat or exhaust or it will rattle like crazy. If you are unsure about the straightness of the frame or suspect an accident, then having a frame shop check and straighten the frame to factory spec's first wouldn't be a bad idea.
