How'd I get a wonderbar?

It's a 91 Z28. And it has a wonderbar. I thought they were only on IROCs. And I'm fairly certain it's not aftermarket, as I bought the car from a chick, and it was bone stock (or so I thought).

Irocs and Z28's are basically the same thing, just with a different name. In 1990 the name for the high end Camaro model was changed from Iroc, back to Z28 due to some licencing thingy of the Iroc name going out.

So was the wonderbar they put on the 91-92 Zs not as good as the ones on the IROCs?

Too funny.. You KNOW a chick-owned car would have to be stock! Well maybe, except for the "hello kitty" airbrushed on the sides

What was the build date on your car? We've found a few early 1991 cars with wonderbars, assuming GM was using up the leftover parts. 91-92 Z28's dont have wonderbars, stock.

Gravitar, the real irony behind my comment is that I'm a girl! And I've modded the he11 out of that car ever since I got it four years ago. But I have a hard time believing that the previous owner-chick with an otherwise stock camaro decided that she needed a wonderbar for it. Lets face it, in girlspeak, 'wonderbar' is a typo. It's supposed to be wonderbra!
Maybe I could check the RPO codes. Is there one for the wonderbar?

The date for mine is 08/90. How likely is it that mine should have one?

Hehe.. I was about to comment on the "chick" statement, but it looks like life's sense of humor took care of that..

Considering my car was built in June of 90 and didnt have a wonderbar, I'd say only the very first ones built would have them. Or it would be completely random, the workers thru them on whenever they want.

Hmmm... Mine was built in 8/90 and it has the wonderbar. Guess that rules out the possibility that only the first made that year got them.

Not to be stereotypical or anything, but just to stir the pot. Has anyone here ever been a little "scared" of girls who know a lot about cars. I mean it's just not what you'd expect. Whenever I ask my gf if she wants to watch me race it's the same reaction I give when she asks if I want to go shopping. I think I'd dig it once I got used to it (girls and cars not shopping), but it's just a little unnerving at first (insert fragile male ego comments here).

The important thing isn't WHY the bar is there, just that it IS.

88 IROC with cobbled together (not by me)drivetrain, 86 (?) TPI unit,CE subframe connectors, Edelbrock strut tower brace, polygraphite bushings all around...it handles like a dream, but man is it hard to push!!

As far as the wonderbar is concerned, I know that Kenny Brown makes one, or of the same concept. It sells for $99 so it better live up to its name for that.

No Firebird's that I've heard of have one. It was a Camaro/IROC only thing.

I believe the Kenny Brown piece is different from the wonderbar. The KB bar mounts to the frame right infront of the tranny pan, aft of the front wheels. The wonderbar mounts infront of the front wheels, under the sway bar.
