Subframes on a 3rd gen convertible

I´m thinking about getting sub frame connecters and I could get a good deal on a pair of MAC´s …. The only problem is that the guy who initially bought them has a 4th gen, so I´m not sure if they fit my ride ???? any ideas ????

Thanks for your help

I seriously doubt 4th gen SFC's will fit a 3rd gen. I have Alstons on my 89 RS. The only ones that would fit a convertible and clear a dual cat converter. They are tubular so they are stronger than boxed units. Mine are bolt on or weld in. You will feel a big improvement with SFC's in your ragtop. My 89 RS used to flex like Hot Wheels track. She's rock solid now.

Nope, 4th gen SFC's wont fit on a thirdgen. Alston's are one of the few that will fit on a thirdgen convertible. http://www.cachassisworks.com/

I used to call my ragtop the nerf car because it flexed so much. I installed Kenny Brown SFCs and a edlebrock strut tower brace. Now it fells like a go-kart very tight.

Great deal or not, those MAC's won't fit for two reason's. First any SFC for a 4th gen won't fit a thirdgen. Second the MAC SFC mounts on the perimiter, which is where your existing boxed sheet metal reinforced piece is located. You don't want to remove that to install a SFC. Get either the Alstons or Kenny Browne SFC's.
