greasable rod end LCAs for the street
greasable rod end LCAs for the street
Some people say that rod ends are not for street use because they are noisy and wear quickly. I can live with noise and Justins86bird has used teflon-lined rod end LCAs on the street for "2-3 years" (see post SPOHN QUESTIONS) without wear problems. Can't argue with that. However, the majority of people say they will wear because of the constant metal-to-metal contact. What about rod ends with grease fittings? I know for a fact that they exist. So what do you all think about rod ends with grease fittings (and lets say you periodically grease them so that water, dirt don't get in and ruin them)?

The addition of grease fittings will weaken the rod end. This is due to the hole that has to be put in it for the zerk fitting. This can be done to rod ends that don't see alot of load, but is not a good choice for high load bearing situations. How nessasary is it to run rod ends on the street? The precision you are trying to achieve will hardly be worth it because of the varying road conditions. There is no perfect set-up for a street car. Even corvettes and such use bushings.
Yeah, I am pretty sure I will get poly LCAs when I upgrade my rear suspension. I was just wondering (and hoping).
