alternate way of lowering guys i need your opinion

i was at the parts store tonight and i seen these shackles you connect them to 2 coils and tighten and the pull the coils together lowering the car. they are removable and adjustable you can get a full coil with each shackle and it is $4.00 a shackle. what do you guys think

thank you

sounds kinda like a spring compressor, but regardless, i would reccommend against it as it changes spring travel, shortens it, but does not increase spring rate. let me just say also that there is no tolerance for the installation, you might end up with different ride hheights on all four corners. my suggestion? dont cut corners, buy a set of eibachs, trw's, or hotchkis.

Don't get them. Like mentioned above thae rate stays the same and there would be no way to insure getting them all even. I know most lower there cars for the lower CG and most springs are stiffer in rate, the result, a tighter handling car. That is why I lovered mine and used stiffer springs. I got my INTRAX sport springs for under $200.00, and they are not that hard to install.

The advice I am about to give is highly not recommended. If you want to lower the rear end you can take a torch to the coil springs. You can heat up a spot on the coil when it's in the car the weight of the car will bend the spring.
Like I said, highly not recommended. But if one side of the rear is a half inch taller than the other you can heat the coil and let the car lower until it is even.
By the way, I would never do this.

the thing is, you can save your stock springs and just swap em out if you want it back to stock height. if you think you can just pull them off in the parking lot at work cuz you feel likee it, like ttops, i got news for ya. youre gonna need tools and to take off the tires anyway, and it wont look right, and youll have all sorts of handling gremlinswith them all. its not difficult to swap springs, ive done it in a few hours. but if you can convince yourself, id say its a hassle and a waste of money, not to mention straight out daangerous i.e. taking a corner at 30 and riding on the bumpstops =O but if you think thaat you can sacrifice handling, time and effort just for an uneven lowering job, even temporary, and pay whhat, 20 bucks for it, ok.

Yes you do get a spring rate increase--it effectively removes one coil. It has the same effect as cutting a remove a coil. If you want to try it, I say go for it. It's not expensive and it's easy to change back.

I would never lower a car buy any means other than springs.

Never use the coil compressers or heat a spring.

Cutting coils even stiffens the ride too much for my likeing.

I have seen the comp. come out after hitting a bump, and the coils actually break from being heated, you take the temper out of the spring by heating.

If you are going to do something, do it right.

Aftermarket springs are designed with the proper spring rate and retain a decent ride while working correctly.

Just my 2 cents..

I would much rather use drop spindles so that suspension geometry is changed as little as possible.
