Winter Suspension Upgrades

Well, I finall have all the parts for my winter suspension upgrades, front and rear. Got some good deals that saved some pretty good change and I can't wait to drive the car to see how it handles. Here are some pics of the pieces to be installed yet as well as those that are already installed. The new torque arm, trans cross member, rear lca brackets, rear shocks, and relocated panhard bar for exhaust clearance for the 3" Flowmaster system I have on.

Re: Winter Suspension Upgrades

I went with the red since it would at least stand out more when people look under the car at the shows and cruises, as low as the sits people still get down on their knees to look and ask questions. When it gets to about February I will get started on the rest since right now I am just kind of hibernating, but I have to admit, I am getting really anxious to get started. Not only am I doing the suspension, I am also going to pull my headers off to wrap them with the heat wrap, put a new PowerMaster High Torque starter on, and last but not least, do some work on the setup I use for my breathers. I have some new aluminum fittings, 1/2" twist tite hose to hook up to the breather tank I use to catch oil vapor and keep it off my polished valve covers.

Re: Winter Suspension Upgrades

i like to use black suspension parts, lower maintenance since dirt doesnt show up as much, and i like them all to blend in up there, so they are not as noticeable.

I can't argue that it is easier to use the black when it comes to the cleaning. The undercarriage of my car is all black, so I like the look of the red to make it stand out. I drive my car up on ramps several times during the summer before a show to give it good cleaning since I do drive it.

Looks like many of the same parts that I have on my car presently. My stock lower control arms have the Energy Suspension bushing installed as well, to bad they are going to go to waste with my replacing the a-arms. You've got some good upgrades there, good luck with your project. The older I get, the more I really enjoy my summer cruises and shows. The ole' body just has hard time getting up off the floor when I'm doing these kinds of upgrades.

Re: Winter Suspension Upgrades

The control arms are from BMR and I got them over the Thanksgiving weekend when they had a 15%off sale. Price really wasn't that bad. I like that they have the built in bump stop as well as the coil spring locator in the perch. They are well made and look great. The sway bars are still the stock ones since this car was ordered with the F-41 suspnsion package when built which gave it some pretty beefy bars that do just fine.

Re: Winter Suspension Upgrades

Do the BMR front arms fit the stock K-member? for some reason I thought that they dont, I do like the fact that they have the stops built in but wish they had more choices on bushing types or spherical joints. I have Spohn's with the del-spheres but had to buy the bumpstops for the struts.

Yes they do fit the stock k-member. I wanted the poly bushings, so it was ok and they have the grease fittings.
