Manual Steering conversion Info (525 box)
Manual Steering conversion Info (525 box)
When I bought my 92 Z28 someone had already installed a GM 525 (manual S10) steering box on it. However it had the incorrect Pitman Arm on it. It was 6-1/2" long and had no offset. This caused the drag link to no longer be parallel with the K member and also to run uphill toward the drivers side. After lots of searching for an economical alternative, I finally found an answer that 100% works and is not a HACK JOB. First I considered the vega box, but that is an expensive conversion and I'm not sold on the vega box holding up. I found out that Borgeson makes a 525 conversion kit (including box), part #999001. I called them up and asked about them selling the pitman arm separately. It was no problem and the part number is 806019, it was $54.70 plus shipping and I had it in 3 days. It is the correct length and offset, and fits the 525 box. Hope this info was helpful.

Re: Manual Steering conversion Info (525 box)
The "early" boxes take a lot more work to install them. The late model, 4 bolt top cover boxes are a direct bolt in.
