Serious problem with rear suspension

Since last year my 91 Z28 is running bigger tyres at the rear (275/60 15), that together with offset of the new rims caused the tyre to rub on the wheel arch (body) regularly on the bumps on the road.
To cure that I had cut the lip of the body that folds inside the arch. It helped a bit but not cured it totally.
Next idea I had to fix the problem was to fit adjustable shocks (KYB AGX) to stiffen rear suspension so won't dip down as much... That works fine and is much better than my old (probably original) shocks. So as long as I'm driving the car on my own the rubbing disappeared but when I had my daughter on the back seat the other day the rubbing started again on the bigger bumps... How to cure that??? I know that I can get smaller tyres but I really love this look and don't wanna change it. Second option is to fit air shocks and raise the car slightly, but it would mean buying another set of shocks after just spending money on KYBs, and also I don't wanna raise the car any higher because I like the stance it has now.

So what are my options? I think that maybe I could get stiffer springs but I can't find any like that, they are all lowering springs and that's the last thing I wanna do.

Please help

That's how the car sits just now...

Re: Serious problem with rear suspension

Wheels with the correct offset (such that they're inside the fenders) would help...

For rear springs, get a pair of Moog CC635. Don't know if you can buy them at parts stores on your side of the pond, but they're widely available on the Net.

Re: Serious problem with rear suspension

moog iroc replacement springs will probably raise the car a couple inches, they seem to do that on every car. that will help, and they are cheap.

as for that lip you cup out of the wheel well, thats a pinch weld that holds the outer skin of the quarter panel to the inner wheel house sheetmetal. you will have to weld the seam back together.

what are the specs on the rear wheels? they do seem to have the wrong offset, and would not rub if they were fit a little better

Of course that wheels with correct offset would help but I've already spent money on those wheels and I'm not gonna change them... I will probably try the springs you mentioned. Thanks.
And just to be on the safe side I think I will get set of these as well:

The lip is already welded together and sealed. The wheels are different offset but that's how I like them, sticking out as far as possible... What do you mean by saying "fit a little better"?

Thanks for your suggestions guys, keep them coming.

So you spent money on those wheels and have tire problems, so you are going to try bandaid fixes. Smart route to go when you know what the real problems are...

Can you tell us which word you're having trouble with? Is it "fit", "a", "little", or "better"?

Those are the wrong wheels for your car. They don't fit. Not much else to say about the situation.

The wheels are different offset but that's how I like them, sticking out as far as possible
That's the long and short of the problem, right there.

Just because you "like" something, doesn't automatically mean that it will work; or that it's a good idea.

The WRONG thing to do, when you make a mistake like putting the wrong wheels on your car, is to hack on the car to try to work around the wrongly selected easily-changed bolt-on parts. You can try the springs, to at least raise the car up off of those wrong wheels; other than that, you could try fixing the underlying problem (they are the wrong wheels) instead of trying to Band-Aid the symptom (the wheels don't fit) created by the real problem.

Re: Serious problem with rear suspension

Get you a set of drag bags. That way when your by yourself, the problem is already fixed, by the trimming, and you can just add air to the bags for when your daughter is with you. Won't raise the car & will save your tires.
