I have 91 firebird and a broken tilt steering column. My question is this...how hard would it be to swap in a column from an older model without tilt and airbag? Which models would be compatible? Any other GM makes that would work? Also, since I have one of the cars with the chip on the key (VATS) is there a way to bypass that? I have checked the laws in my state and swapping in a column without an airbag is legal, and as far as my insurance company is concerned I just have to notify them that the car no longer has an airbag equipped. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
