Tinny rattling from rear

Hey, when driving on rough surfaces etc, I'm hearing a tinny rattling sound from the rear.

Not clunking, it sounds a bit like alloy-type metal rattling.

I had a quick look underneath this evening and the sway-bar bushes look ok;

Any ideas what this could be please?

Thanks

Andy

Re: Tinny rattling from rear

look at the rear heat sheilds over the muffler and over the exhaust pipe where it goes behind the back seat and over the axle. if they have come loose, they can rattle and they will sounds tinny. Those two pieces actually fit together just behind the axle before the upper panhard support, if they popped apart, again, you will get noise form them rattling against each other.

or maybe its all something exhaust related, a loose baffle in the muffler or something,

Also check the dust shields on rear disc brakes if you have them.

Its a manual, but no it only happens when moving over rough ground, lumpy road surface etc.

Thanks for the heatshield suggestions, I'll have a look at that. It doesn't sound like the muffler.

Re: Tinny rattling from rear

It was the inner brake pad on the driver's side rear that was rattling.

I'm hoping a blob of silicone will have fixed it!

Is there supposed to be a clip or something?
