Reinforcing stock parts?
Im curious if anyone has reinforced their stock a arms & lcas by welding flat metal to them? I know we did when i was building lowriders with hydraulic for competition. Post pics if you have any.

You might be interested to know that some lower control arms were somewhat strengthened from the factory. I included PDF's in the following link:

for what reason are you thinking about strengthening them? they are beefy as is (front a-arms) and the added metal will do little except add weight. What is done more commonly, is to weld in smaller pieces just back from the ball joint boss and across the bushings to keep the arm in shape when bushings and joints are pressed in and out. Aside from that, they are plenty strong for race use.
the rears can be boxed, but at that point you are adding some bind and thats not a good thing.

LCA's have been strengthened that way by many folks several years ago, but tyhese days I think everyone just buys new as the prices have dropped (or the younger crowd is just lazy and has cash to spend since us older folks (ie their parents) feed and house them for free).
