the front k member/shocks/steering parts basically the whole complete k member from a fourth gen to a third gen.....anyone done it? and if so any pix ...thanks for any and all info...i recently got a 4th gen ls1 parts car and im considering this if its possible

 

I'm sure you have looked already but no, not without serious fabrication. They are two entirely different setups. Are you the one with the black SLP camaro?

No I meant the ls1 4th gen car your talking about, I saw one being parted on CL.

oh....that must have been the last car i had parted....the tan leather seats?....im not sure if we are talking about the same car or not lol....the new ls1 parts car has no seats in it and the last one had tan leather....?

 

If the swap was possible, there would be a sticky or lots of threads on how to do it. If you want to do something to a third gen and can't find anything in the archive about it, there's a good chance it can't be or hasn't been done.

 

it has been done, but it involves cutting both cars in half and grafting the firewall forward from the 4th gen onto the 3rd gen. Nothing is a bolt on, and its a major undertaking.

 

i was just wondering about it because someone locally had done an lt1 swap into a gta and bought parts off me.....they bought a rack n pinion from an lt car i had and said they needed to fix there setup in the gta...??

 

chances are they just swapped the rack, or they had no clue what they were doing and though they already had a rack. I would be more inclined to believe the latter.
