lowering springs?
Hey everyone I was thinking of dropping my 89 camaro using the eibach kit 1.6" in the front 1.3" rear . My question is can I just install the springs or do I have to get the adjustable panhard rod, torque arms too. what are the positives of using just the spring compared to changing the whole suspension.
Has any one just used the springs ? How do you like it and how does it drive? Does it bottom out ?.
Thanks for all the help

Re: lowering springs?
you dont need any of those parts unless you have issues after the install. the axle may be close enough to centered after lowering to not need the panhard, if the pinion angle is still good, no need for the TA.
Good shocks and struts should be installed though.

Re: lowering springs?
I'd have an adjustable panhard bar ready to install. I used the 1" Eibach drop springs, and I needed one - so 1.6 inches is definitely going to need one.

Keep an eye out on ebay and CL- right now in my area there's an adjustable panhard from HP Motorsports for $25.

Re: lowering springs?
I have Eibachs, don't like em, going back to stock. Ride too harsh, or maybe roads suck all over, limits load carrying, rubs tires on harsh bridge aprons. Rears you can put in with no tools just have your heaviest buddy stand on the rear drum with the wheel removed and the old ones slide out and the new ones will slide in but the fronts require spring compressors.

Re: lowering springs?
I actually enjoyed the ride of the Eibach springs over my Intrax setup, but like the look and handling of the Intrax more than the Eibach. My Intrax setup is ROUGH. I don't know if better shocks/struts would help my current setup, but the Eibachs had a much sportier feel over stock without being bonejarring like Intrax IMHO. Eibachs weren't low enough ride height.

Since you're new to suspension, perhaps the following link (which is a sticky) will school you a bit with info and pics:

Re: lowering springs?
I got the pro kit with Kyb's on my car(kinda wish I did go with a different shock but whatever for now). I do not have very many miles on them but it rides really nice. The car only sat MAYBE 1/4-1/2 inch lower than my stock springs and blown out shocks. Also I have an adj. panhard, lower control arms and LCARB's, and the spohn spherical upper strut mounts.
