Yup, factory triangles were accounted for.
I was working on the bolt package for the k-member today. It'll have motor mount bolts, k-to-chassis bolts and triangular brace bolts. And a nice instruction sheet.

Re: UMI Performance 3rd Generation K-member Now Available!
Yes, the k-member has the holes drilled for the triangular braces and there is no extra cost for them, the holes automatically come included. I hope that helps!

Quick update for everyone. K-member is 99% through production, we have one more piece to machine then we begin welding them. We will be shipping based on order dates.
I will update this thread again shortly when they actually start shipping.
We would like to thank everyone for the patience!

Re: UMI Performance 3rd Generation K-member Now Available!
I just ordered UMI everything for my convertible (aarms, lca, panhard, wonderbar, steering brace, camber plates). I didn't order SFC or K-member yet. How much longer will the ETA be for ppl that did not pre-order?
on another note, I was going to buy everything from Racecraft... but after giving UMI a call I was sold on roto joints (Racecraft dose not have). Jerry (I think that's his name) spent over 20min explaining the in's and out's of the UMI family of products.
The service was so good that I got everything from UMI.

how about some up to date pics of the ls1 version since you said it wouldn't clear the pan like the sbc one with the same dual tube K design.

Re: UMI Performance 3rd Generation K-member Now Available!
Ordered up mine today. Any ideas on when it'll be shipped?
Re: UMI Performance 3rd Generation K-member Now Available!
@stereojnky: we're shipping in order of purchase so yes, you'll be up front
@killert: thanks for your order! We'll be building in order like I mentioned above. Perhaps a few weeks to get them all welded.
The LSX is the same design, still dual tube just with engine mount changes.
As for pics, we'll post some soon.
Thanks guys.

Re: UMI Performance 3rd Generation K-member Now Available!
thanks i didnt see that option, i seen they said the lsx had engine mount changes. I wasnt sure if that was an actual part of the kmember or just the bolt on mounts. i over thought it apparently. good looking out.
Re: UMI Performance 3rd Generation K-member Now Available!
At the bottom of the ad in the link below there is a $45 option to add the LSX motor mounts.

Re: UMI Performance 3rd Generation K-member Now Available!
Hello Everyone,
I have another update.. and a good one.
We began welding the k-members yesterday and have completed a few already. We will be shipping early next week once they are powder coated. Fitment is good and we are very happy with it.
We have had a few cranky customers calling in and I totally understand your frustration, our expected shipping date is more than double what I originally said and I am very sorry. But please understand we can't rush this any quicker, we can't take a chance of sending out a k-member that won't fit. Again I understand the frustration, this is not a scam to get your money... we are simply behind on building them and they are coming off the production line now.
I really appreciate everyone who has had patience's with us!

Re: UMI Performance 3rd Generation K-member Now Available!
Like Ramey mentioned the LSX brackets are machining as we speak, we will have completed pictures shortly.
I have a few pictures below to share. K-members are coming out completed, we ran into a few minor issues we are addressing now before we ship. Pictures below show spring perches before welding and a few completed k-members before powder coat.
Thanks again for everyone hanging in there!

Re: UMI Performance 3rd Generation K-member Now Available!
Ramey,
This looks like a nice piece. As a road race/autoX guy, I really put my components to the test. So a primary concern of mine is strength and stiffness. What can you say to thirdgeners like myself to allay our fears of ending up with something weaker and/or less stiff than stock?
What kind of stress/strain analysis did you do? For reference, check this out: http://www.speedlogix.net/instructio...evision2.1.pdf
I am actually in the market for a K member (mine is damaged) and was going to replace it with a stock one but I have an open mind. I can be talked into something that is proven to be stiffer/stronger/lighter if there is data to back it up.
Thanks in advance!

Good morning 1fast.
We have a coilover kit in design right now. So far I've been able to fit a 14" x 250lb/in spring for drag use and a 12" x 350 lb/in spring for street use.

We use Autodesk Inventor for part design but have not run the FEA on it yet. Our testing so far has been on our '89 IROC test mule and consists of daily driving, dirt road/pothole action and some canyon carving (PA is all mountains). Of course our inspection of the abused product indicated design success.
Indeed it's lighter, but stiffer and/or stronger is yet to be determined from a data standpoint. To prove that we would also have to run the FEA on the stock piece which is probably months and months away.

If you could get data for the regular version compared to your upcoming road race version THAT would also be a selling point for you guys (compare stock to standard version to road race version). Although, I'm pretty sure the road race version will be stronger than stock but it's good to know

How are these compared to the profab/pa racing units?
I had a profab unit back in 2002 and it was weak, flexed and eventually cracked. The bottom hoop was way too low. The steering linkage rubbed. Just overall epic failure..

Just ordered the K-member and A-arm package you guys offer today for my 89 IROC. Can't wait to see it once it's installed. So far I've been very impressed with every UMI part I've purchased from you guys, that includes my whole suspension. What is typical shipping on this? Still two to three weeks?

Do you have some pics of the K-member installed? To give us an idea how the clearance is under the car and what not? Thanks,

Well at least it has two lower hoops rather than 1 on the profab/pa racing k-members.

Will those bolts holding the upper spring perch be able to withstand potholes and the forces of extreme handling? They look rather small, no?

Thanks. I ordered mine 11/28/11....hopefully I'll receive it soon....
Re: UMI Performance 3rd Generation K-member Now Available!
We just started shipping them, it will be about two a day right now.
We had some unexpected bugs show up we had to work out over the past few weeks... very minor but we had to tweak some mounts for factory a-arm clearance and so they would clear all our a-arm designs, both old and new.
Thanks!
