Re: HELP! power steering pump
Bummer, dude
Only thing I can think of is that a GOOD welder, with a
tig unit, could weld in a bolt/stud. Put a few spot welds on 1 at a time,
which shouldn't heat the shaft up enough to cause internal damage.
If you were cutting new threads, that then pulled out, could you
have to big a pilot hole, so that there wasn't enough material
in the thread?
Just askin...
Good luck

Re: HELP! power steering pump
Unless it was a bottoming tap there would not be much threads. Bum deal looks like a new pump is the way togo.

Re: HELP! power steering pump
i would just get another pump and start over .let me tell you how i do this; i mount the pump on the engine then i hold dry ice on the pulley hub while i heat the pulley slightly ,then using the proper tool i hurry the pulley on. it makes this job so much easier

Re: HELP! power steering pump
I also make sure to clean up the shaft and the inside of the pulley really good with fine emery paper and brake clean. Smooth any nicks or dents in the shaft or pulley with a file.
