i ran my first autocross today and won the fs class. im proud and hooked since i learn they do a bunch of these races around me.
so im running everything stock motor trans suspension and brakes.
how do i build my car to be come better at autocross? one peice at a time... im low budget so its not a buy it all at once deal imma be buying peices as i go... but i want to be that guy with the muscle car out there.

Awesome job and congrats on the win!
I'd install sub frame connectors and a panhard bar to start.
What did your car do or not do that you'd like to improve. I'd go there next.
Let us know what you need.

is bad advice really. You need to first start by looking at the SCCA rule book, http://cms.scca.com/documents/2011%20Tech/2011%20SCCA%20Solo%20Rules.pdf
& decide what class you want to compete in before you start throwing part at it which could throw you into such a higher level c;lass that you'll have no chance of winning without stripping the hell out of & making it a dedicated race car.

I don't know what wheels and tires you want to run, but that tire setup is not gonna help you on the autocross. If you can, pick up a set of 16 inch wheels and run 245/50 tires. That will be a good start. Hell you can run 255s on all four corners. People will tell you to go bigger but this is a bolt on factory setup that will fit without problems.
Another thing I'd do is check your sway bar bushings and sway bar end links. If both are shot, replace them with poly bushings and end links. That will be the cheap route. This would fix your lean problem.
If the sway bars are missing...(unlikely but it does happen) get a 36mm hollow front sway bar and you will have to experiment with the rear, but the 36 was matched with a 24mm rear at the factory, some people say it snaps too much and they run a 21mm or 19mm. DO NOT go aftermarket as the factory bars work just as well if not better than the aftermarket bars in this case. Again addresses your lean problem.
Next I would address the shocks and struts. Again, this is where you have to pay to play. Koni Yellows are considered top dog here, Blisteins will also be a good move. Some Tokicos are supposed to be on par with the Blistiens but I don't know which ones. DO NOT get the el cheapo Monroe or Gaberial struts/shocks here. KYBs are considered cheap and can be good ones but most serious autocrossers won't consider those IMO.
That should be a good place to start.

Tokico Illuminas are the ones your thinking of. 5 way adjustable front and rear and good ride quality. I have them in my car right now. Ive only driven it with factory springs however. I just installed an Eibach prokit so i have no idea how it will ride now....most likely a lot firmer.

I know you won your first race but honestly, spend your money on parts that keep you in f-stock. You need seat time with this car before you spend money on parts that completely alter the way it drives (even if that is for the better). Start with these:
- Best tires you can afford
- Best shocks/struts you can afford
- New OE springs (try IROCs)
- New OE bushings everywhere
- Best brake pads you can afford
- 3 inch cat-back exhaust
There is not much you can change in FS, but take advantage of what you can. For example, you can run race tires and have a cat-back exhaust.
SCCA stock classes do not allow aftermarket shocks with more than two on-car adjustments. That means the Tokicos mentioned earlier and even Koni yellows are not allowed. I would suggest Koni reds.
