People with with Spohn and A arms..

OK just got around to working on my 89 Camaro, with Spohn K member and A arms. And run into an issue, hoping for some insight. I have both the stock Iroc springs and a new Eibach Pro set. I am unable to install either set, because they contact the cross brace on the arms. This the tube that connects each side of the A arm. Any one on here have had that problem????

Thanks JK

not really following you here, have a pic? the springs sit next to that cross tube, in the spring perch, so i dont see how they would hit each other?

I will have to take a picture, its basically the welded tube that runs from both sides of the a arm. Just for curiosity I replaced the stock a arms and and can put both the original spring and the Eibach relatively easy.

its been mentioned before that i can be a bit mroe difficult to get the springs in those arms, but i've never seen anybody unable to get them in.

I assume you have a spring compressor? it may be needed more in this application.

Yeah I been reading they would be a pain in th butt. I just purchased a spring compressor just for this job. And I can borrow on of the Snap-On model, that can be run trough lower arm, and compress the spring. All the work maybe no good if the a arms are out spec, taking more time taking back apart. This is the bar mentioned, its in the way every way you jack with it..

angle is bad, it looks like the bar is over the top part of the perch, but the arm is angled a bit so its hard to tell.

If you were trying to install without the spring comp, that may be the problem. Try using the comp and see what happens.

Re: People with with Spohn and A arms..

You have to use a spring compressor and tighten that spring until its hot to the touch. I have spohn a arms and eibach springs and that is what I had to do. It is a pain in the *** but you need the spring so compressed that the control arm can swing up enough to clear that bar you speak of. Have fun and be safe!

Thanks got them installed. Read on here of another member that used a pipe. So I used a 3 inch section of pipe and worked good for me.
