Re: Caster question

If your making your own mounts, I would try and copy one of the existing designs. They allow for additional caster adjustment over the stock ones. Most of the recommended alignment settings I found for street cars had caster in the 5.0 to 6.0 range.

Not far, stock is around 4 I think.

You are aware the stock mounts have caster adjustment right?

I used the wide body bearings for mine. Was having some feed issues with my MIG, not my greatest welds.

Sphericals aren't made for axial loading and the wide series is rated a little higher. Of course that means custom cups. I've seen a lot of camber plates use the standard sphericals so its probably not needed. Good call on the FK's, one my QA1's already has some slop in it.

Truthfully, there's no good reason to make your own. J&M has a lifetime warranty on bearings for their mounts and I've seen them on sale well below $200. I built my strut mounts just for a fabrication project, but I still need to go back and do some more fab to make the camber slots longer.
