Energy Suspension poly motor mounts

Hi,

after drilling out the rivets/welds of my clamshells and installing the new n shinny poly mounts they wouldnt line up with the provided holes in the k-member, after trying back and forth and swapping them around i went back with my old ones, cause i wasnt gonna redrill or slot.
very annoying when aftermarket parts just wont fit as they are supposed to.

anybody out there encountered the same problem?

regards J

I had them with no problems. Not sure how the mount will effect wether or not the clamshell part will line up since that part stays the same.

You did something wrong. Simply changing the insert in the mount does not change where the bolt holes are. Sounds like you have 2 different sets of mounts? Are they correct for the car? I'm not sure how this problem could arise?

Re: Energy Suspension poly motor mounts

Do you have them on the wrong sides? If my memory serves correctly, they only line up perfectly on one side. I could be wrong, but I didn't have any problems installing poly mounts in my car, they lined right up. There are several holes in close proximity. Possible you lined up on the wrong holes?

ditto, make sure you're using the correct set of holes. our kmembers are drilled for both the v6 and v8 mounts; the v8 setup only uses 3 of the 4 bolt holes in the clamshells

Re: Energy Suspension poly motor mounts

Does a RS and IROC suspension have anything to do with it?

Re: Energy Suspension poly motor mounts

I used the Energy Suspension Poly mounts and the holes lined up perfectly.I consider myself to be mechanically inclined but removing and installing the motor mounts was one of the hardest things I have done so far .To install them especially the passenger side required a pair of vice gripes on the top so it would not spin while I used a extension with three wobbler's and socket all taped together with electrical tape to keep them from only bending a little instead of wobbling to much. I did this install by myself and the job lasted well into the night. Only fitting because it was a "nightmare".I would never use any thing but poly mounts because of how long they last.I know I'm dreaming but I hope this will be the last time I have to do that.

The suspension is the same between the two cars. It is much easier to pop the spring out and get it that way. It's a little more time consuming but it is well worth it.

Re: Energy Suspension poly motor mounts

You need to remove the springs and the lower control arms from the car entirely. Even then the access is hell. And if you're going to the trouble, then just do Moroso solids so you'll never again have any cause to repeat the job.

Re: Energy Suspension poly motor mounts

Just thought Id mention that even though I had intentions on doing the switch myself, I contacted a reputable shop and was quoted $300.00 to do the job.Just one more reason I did it myself.

Re: Energy Suspension poly motor mounts

It is the same way on S10s. It is a pita but you can do it with all the suspension still mounted.

Whenever I put new bushings in my front arms, Im going to swap the mounts while Im at it.
