4th gen rear question
I just installed a rear diff from a 2000 SS. My question is, why is it sitting 1/2" off, towards the pass. side?

Re: 4th gen rear question
probably was before too. Check the condition of the panhard bar.
If its straight and undamaged, you need a adjustable panhard bar to center the axle

Re: 4th gen rear question
I have Spohn panhard bar and LCA's that I bought from one of the mods here. It drives perfectly straight and all, but you can tell it is off center and measurements confirm it.

Re: 4th gen rear question
My 3rd gen rear was off by 1/2" as well...towards the pass side.
Adj ph-rod (on car) corrected the issue.

99% of these cars are like this. You won't really notice it until you put your tires out to the edge of the sheetmetal.

Re: 4th gen rear question
Not until the tires are closer to the edges of the fenders does it really become noticeable. I was on stock springs, stock wheels with stock sized tires & only 1/2" lower than when it was brand new & mine seemed fine until I put 17"x9" wheels that had a different backspacing (from stock) on them & sat just a bit in from the edge. I got an Adjustable PHB from http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...fombdeosckah83 Last edited by BlackenedBird; Sep 2, 2012 at 09:50 AM.

Re: 4th gen rear question
Ok cool, those are the answers I was expecting to hear. Ok, so I won't worry about it for now, and then over winter I'll get an adjustable PHR and take care of it.
Thanks guys.

Not uncommon on the F-body because as the suspension sags or you drop the car, the rearend pushes to the driver's side. As mentioned above, the fix is an adjustable panhard bar.
