Quick question and thanks in advance for any response.

I needed to replace the steering column in my 91 camaro rs. the only one I was able to find was off of a 92 firebird. everything appears the same from the airbag placement, ignition switch, and how it bolts. I even took measurements as far as lenght and it appeared to be the same. I am trying to figure out if this is suppose to work as a replacement because i am having trouble sliding it into the shaft under the hood.
