car leans to one side...

My car leans about two inches lower on the left side then the right. I've replaced the springs and the isolators looked good so I reused them, taping then to the springs so they wouldn't move. Only things I haven't replaced on the suspension is the front control arm bushings and ball joints but both seem to be good. Any idea as what's causing this? I'm gonna look at it this weekend and wanted to pick y'alls brains as to what it could be.

Shocks and struts I replaced when I did the springs. The car has been leaning like this since I got it almost two years ago. I originally thought it was the springs but new Eibachs didn't fix it. I replaced everything this January but have been doing everything else in between and figured I finally will give it a serious look.

you got any pics of it, if its not a struts/shocks, or the springs, not sure what else it could be

Re: car leans to one side...

Yeah it has me baffled.

No pics I would get one now but it's dark outside. I'll post one up tomorrow afternoon I get off work at 3 so sometime after then.

I'm wondering if one of the bushings have gone out but all the rubber is still in them and I don't get any clunks or funky noises. Car hasn't been wrecked either it lived a pretty pampered life before I got it and I've ran a VIN report on it and according to their records no reports of any crashes.

Check your endlinks on your rear sway bar. I know it sounds silly but this was the culprit in one of my cars years ago.

Re: car leans to one side...

At this point nothing sounds silly cause I'm totally stumped. I've got energy suspension ones on the front but the 24 year old stock ones are still outback. Thanks for the info.

that was gonna be my next question, to see if it was in an accident, maybe a bent control arm?

Were the front springs indexed properly?

Re: car leans to one side...

I have this problem too. My drivers side sits an inch higher and I have new springs and shocks. I know my rear end is shifted to the right about an inch, I wonder if this can mess with the suspension geometry. And maybe an adj panhard bar can fix it. Just a shot in the dark

Re: car leans to one side...

Blah it's been nasty out and had some stuff needed to get done today so no chance to mess with it.

I'm pretty sure I've got the springs indexed right, your talking about how the control arms arm shaped up for the pigtail of the spring to seat into right?

Also got an adjustable panhard bar and the rear is centered. It was like this before I put the lowering springs in.

I'm wondering if the end links aren't shot on the rear like Podium suggested because it seems to be leaning more in back than the front. Appreciate all you guys responses. Hopefully I'll have a chance to get to it this weekend, I work weekends but get off at 1(getting up to be there at 5 sucks lol) so I'll have the afternoon to play with it some

The end of the spring needs to be seated between the two drain holes.

I know this is obvious but make sure your car is in the level.

Re: car leans to one side...

I fixed it!!! Turns out the problem was due to ummm..... improper installation of the passenger side front spring.

I remember it being a PITA getting the spring to go in and some how or another I had the spring sitting on top of the "cup" on the k member instead of down inside it.

Pretty simple fix, I compressed the spring with a spring compressor enough to relieve the pressure on it then used a crow bar to pry it into position.

Car now sits nice and level and a lot lower in the front than it did before it actually looks lowered instead of like a really fat dude is sitting in the driver seat lmao.

I'm glad I finally figured it out it's been bothering me for awhile and I was seriously scratching my head today until I shined the drop light up in the spring and seen that lol. So if any of you put springs in your car double check that both the top and bottom of the spring is seated correctly to save yourself some trouble.

Re: car leans to one side...

Just a little update. Car now has a pretty mean stance (import crowd is running that word) and sits low in the front. Had to replace the speedometer cable couple days ago and to get my jack to fit underneath I had to drive it up on some 2 x 4's to raise it up a little lol.

It handles way better than before as well. I always thought it gripped more when turning left which I guess it was since it was basically weight jacked before I fixed it.
